How Job Seekers Can Expedite the Hiring Process

The hiring process can be a lengthy one. There are several factors that play a role in the timeline, but fortunately, there are a few ways that job seekers can expedite the hiring process. While some of these things may seem insignificant, they can significantly cut down on the wait time for getting into a new position.

Be Prepared

Make sure that you have documents in hand in case the hiring manager needs them for their file. This may include a copy of your resume, identification, and any other forms or surveys that you may be asked to fill out. If you have to come back later or simply don’t have the documents on hand, then this could snag the process and delay the answer you’re waiting on.

Follow Up

You should follow up with the hiring managing shortly after the interview comes to an end. You should ask how they prefer to receive their follow up communication as some hiring managers have a preference. Usually, a quality email will suffice.  Make sure you thank them for their time and reiterate your enthusiasm for the job.

Know the Next Steps

After the interview, you should know what the next steps are. Don’t be afraid to ask about the timeline of their decision. This will showcase your interest and give you an understanding of when they will make their final decisions.

Remind them of Your Search

You should mention that you are continuing the job hunt following the interview. If you are one of the top candidates, then they will know that they are on borrowed time before another position makes you an offer. If they see that you are still in the market, then they may be swayed to give you an answer more quickly.

While there are some aspects of the hiring process that are simply time-consuming, there are some things you can do to expedite the process.
